Abstract
The International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) has updated the definition of pain as “An unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with or resembling that associated with, actual or potential tissue damage”. Chronic musculoskeletal pain (CMP) is a common and debilitating condition that affects millions of people worldwide. It is characterized by persistent pain in the muscles, bones, and joints that lasts for more than three months. The Pain Task Force of the (IASP), defines Chronic Primary Musculoskeletal Pain (CPMP) as “chronic pain in the muscles, bones, joints, or tendons that is characterized by significant emotional distress (i.e., anxiety, anger, frustration, and depressed mood) or functional disability”.
